Russia: A World Within

Russia is the largest country in the world and occupies an eight of the earth’s total land mass. This major super power before both the world wars and after; is spread over eleven time zones and has a population of over 145 million. The country was dominated for over 200 years by Mongols until Peter the Great founded the Russian Empire. This country has witnessed many troubles and has been shaken stirred and twisted over the centuries, however it has withstood all the turmoils and today is one of the powerhouses in the field of politics, science, economy, trade and sports.

The country has not withstood many foreign invasions including the Mongols and Nazis but also many internal strifes. After the Berlin wall came down in 1989 and the fall of the Soviet Union, the current Russia was born which brought a new era to the world. Though the transit was not without additional suffering and turmoil, today Russia stands tall as a superpower in terms of the Russian economics, military and scientific research.

The new Russia post the World War II has given the world many things the world will ever be indebted to it.
-It is one of the first countries to give equal rights to both men and women. It is one of the few countries whose female population is more than their male counterparts.
- It has one of the finest labor laws in the world where the citizens enjoy 2 days week off, 2-4 weeks yearly holidays, insurance coverage etc.
- It has given the world many new scientific discoveries like first ever satellite, first manually controlled rocket , artificial organs, first helicopter and yep the notorious AK-47.
In a nutshell Russia is an amazing country with a rich historical background and powerful future.
